Start 'Em Young!!

A little background first! I babysit for a teacher, who has 3 children. The oldest is in all day kindergarden this year, so I don't get her very often anymore. Yesterday, our schools had a 2 hour early release, for teacher work day. So....that meant the oldest had to come here for the afternoon, while mom was still at the school. The younger 2 were napping when she got here. I was stitching & she was watching me very intently.
Here is the story!
I thought....Shari, see if she is interested! Take the time...take the opportunity!! I asked her if she wanted to try stitching & she smiled big & said yes. So, off I went to find supplies for her. I told her a few of my beginning secrets & then let her go. I decided to just let her work, not correct her for not making X's. At this point, let her get the feel for what the fabric feels like, how it feels to put the needle up & down etc...
I snapped a couple pictures of her working & mom said it was ok to post them. Isn't she adorable???! So intent in her work!!!
I also included a picture of what I was working on for you to see.
Have a beautiful day!

That is such a cute picture of the girl stitching. Isn't that fun that she wants to stitch too? My 8 year old son is also doing cross stitching, because he sees me doing it. He enjoys it a lot. And he really is doing a great job with it.
Love your project you are working on now.

What sweet precious photos, Shari. I love the way you are letting her get the feel of things. Plenty of time to work in the details as she is ready. I love how this wonderful passion of ours is passed from generation to generation! Thank you for sharing with us!

So, cute. My nephews have shown interest at different times in their life, but they're father would have nothing of it! LOL Maybe I should find something he stitched when he was a teenager and show his sons! Yep, he used to stitch, but doesn't any longer.

My mom has tried to get my sister to stitch like me and her but my sister clearly will never cross stitch. She doesn't have the attention span. I would have said patience but I don't even have patience and I can stitch all day. Maybe she will change once she gets older, but I don't foresee it. Your stitching looks great! :)

The pics are adorable....it makes her look so old. I know that she will cherish this memory for a very long time....her face lit up when we talked about stitching that night. I cherish all that you do for our family. =)
