A finish, a question, a finished finish & progress!

How is that for a title??
First, I finished a cute little freebie from Homespun Elegance. It is stitched on 32 ct. Midas lugana from Picture this Plus. I don't get into Halloween but I thought this freebie was too cute to not stitch. I am planning to make a little pinkeep out of it. Here is where the question comes in. I don't have Halloween fabrics in my stash. But...I found two fabrics that I thought looked good. I would love your opinions please...which looks better??
The finished finish is the 3rd time I have stitched this wedding piece. I stitched it for a very dear friend of ours that grew up with our kids. I then stitched it for my best friends son & his bride. This time, it was for someone I do not know. I was asked to stitch it as a gift & get paid for it. Here is another question. You see the finished piece. I provided everything. How much would YOU have charged for it? I am just curious!!!
Progress........I said last month that I had to stitch at least 2 motifs per month on my B. Potter, to finish it by the end of this year. Well, I did 4 this month so I only have FIVE left now & one of those is very tiny!! Woohoo!!! I see the end in sight!! Almost makes me want to keep moving on it, but I do have some fall stitching I want to tackle!!!
Have a super week! Thanks for stopping by & for your wonderful comments!!!

I love that freebie. I did it and will be making it into a pinkeep, as well.

That is a very cute freebie and (IMHO) I think it will look fabulous with the leaf fabric!

As for your other question about charging for your stitching, here is where I stand.....
I would charge them for the cost of the supplies (chart, fabric, threads, frame, etc.) in addition to charging a modest fee to stitch and frame the piece. I believe the going rate is about a penny a stitch. Based on the size I believe I would have received $35-$40 for it if I were to stitch it for a model. Of course, as a model stitcher, that money is for my time alone as the supplies would have been provided by the designer/shop who wanted it stitched. HTH!

The first fabric looks a little like jelly beans, so it could be a Halloween goodies look, but I think the colors in the fall leaves are perfect for the floss you used. That wasn't much help, was it?! haha. I think I'd used the leaves, if it were up to me.

I like your freebie as well, and I agree that it would look fantastic on the leaf material with its color scheme!!

Congratulations on getting so far on the sampler. I have not gotten into them, but you all that do may change my mind!!

I am sorry, but I am no help on how much to charge - it seems Jennifer has some good points in that regard.

Hmmm a very difficult question. I'd suggest around £20 but I don't know how much that is in dollars. It would depend upon the cost of your materials. x

Hi Shari, i will go with the second pic. for the fabric, cute finish though and as for charging the piece--i don't have experience with that area so i don't have any idea.

Great job on B.Potter progress.

Beautiful stitching! I would use the leaf material. It will look so good. I cant wait to see BP done. You are almost done! Did you see Victoria sampler's Santa Village? I thought of you when I saw it plus it reminded me of the Christmas Village.

I like it with the first fabric :)

I just saw the freebie on Friday and plan to stitch it soon, too. It looks like a quick one! I like the leaf fabric as it seems to complement the colors in your stitching. BP is coming along...why not take an hour a day you'll be surprised how much you'll get done :)
AS for the pricing of your work? It's priceless but Jennifer seems to have good advice being a model stitcher.

Definatly the Indian corn. It say "Harvest Festival". The other one looks nice but reminds me of riding down a country lane in fall with the trees changing colors.

That freebie is so cute, Shari--think you're the first one that I've seen finish it. I also like the second fabric the best--the colors coordinate better...

Gosh, I have no idea about the cost! Are you asking about the cost with the frame, too? Guess I would say $25-$40, but that is just a guess! Non-stitchers really have no idea how much time we put into our pieces, do they?

Love the freebie Shari; I love both fabrics, but think I prefer the second one best.

Your BP is looking fantastic!

Congrats on your finishes. I'm not sure what to charge for the stitched piece. $30-35?

I like the leaf material best. Congrats on your finish, finish. I would charge at least $20.00.

What an adorable freebie. I just went and printed it out. Thank you for pointing the way. :)

I love your BP quaker piece. It is just gorgeous.

As for charging for my stitching? Definitley for the materials. But as for my time? I have no idea what I would charge. But I doubt it would be enough. :)

That's a lovely finish and I think I'd take fabric #2, the one with the leaves.
BP looks great and will soon be finished. You are certainly looking forward to it. It's incredible what you could finish so far in spite of all the canning.
I can't say anything about your last question because I have never stitched anything on order.

Congrats on the finishes. The Halloween piece looks better on the fabric from the first pic. Just my opinion. I wouldn't know what to charge for the gift you stitched. How about $30. Your WIP looks great. Keep on stitching it & you'll be done before you know it. Thanks for sharing.

I like the leaf material better. As far as the price goes. I think a penny a stitch is pretty common, you would have to add the price of the material. I would just throw in the price of the floss since it didn't use much and you never get paid for your time! That's the part non-stitchers don't get! They think you can just finish a piece in an evening.
