A few finishes

Here we are! Almost the end of the year. Where has it gone? My goodness. It is almost 2008.

I have been extremely busy the past few weeks, but I have still managed to do a few small pieces.

I decided on a frame for the Spot of Love by Midnight Stitching that I did for my brother's wedding. The wedding was yesterday & I think they liked the piece. I am attaching a picture of it. If I could have gotten it to a shop, I would have chosen a different frame, but I had to make do with what I could get locally.

I am also attaching the ornaments that I have finished in the past couple weeks. One was sent to me in a Christmas Card, so I made it into an ornament. (they just sent the stitched piece)
I also added a picture of my dog opening his gift from my aunt! Crazy dog!!
Enjoy!!!

more snow pictures

well, we have shoveled ourselves "out" now. It took 3 of us 3 hours+ to get it done. I didn't take pictures after that, but I do have some more before we started.

Enjoy!

winter wonderland

it is Sunday morning & we are usually at church at this time of morning. Well, for the second week in a row, church is cancelled. Last week, it was due to LOTS of ice. This week, it is snow. Looking out, from inside my warm house, it is beautiful. Christmas card picture weather. But, reality says...no way do I want to get on the roads. And, where is the snowblower that guy at Big R tried to sell us yesterday!?!? Oh wait, I said we don't NEED one!!! HA!!!
Anyway, here are a couple pictures, taken from my front porch. (I haven't stepped outside yet!!!)

Totally Surprised!!!!

Christmas came to my house this morning...Ok, maybe not Christmas, but a good friend, who made it FEEL like Christmas!!! One of the yahoo groups I am in does what we call Angel projects. There are usually 2 per year. I kept asking the group mom what were the angel projects this year. She kept telling me just the one I knew about. Well, now I know why!!!! I was the second one!!!!!

I don't remember this, but she said I was the one who started the Ornament SAL on the group. So, she had members stitch ornaments for me. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?!?!?!!?

She emailed this morning & asked what I was doing today & if I would be home. I told her I needed to run to town, but I would be home the rest of the day. So, she said she could come over later.

She walked up to the door & handed me this box! (beautifully wrapped in SNOWMAN paper!!!!) I opened it & inside were ornaments from 14 people!!!! They are all so pretty. I love each & every one & the time each person put into them.

I told the group mom I would have to go get a new tree for my stitching room to put them on. (my little tree was full already!)

So, DH & I went to Big R this afternoon, because I KNEW they had trees for 50% off. I got a real nice tree & it is now set up & all my ornaments are on it! (the new ones & the ones I already had!!!!) I want to post all the pictures, but I will just post the tree. Thanks for looking & thanks to each & everyone of you who did an ornament. I will treasure these FOREVER!!!!!!

Yippee! It is Friday!

This seems like it has been the LONGEST week. Between being super busy & not feeling the greatest, I am glad it is almost the weekend!!!
I finished my last ornament for a group SAL on Tues. I am attaching it here.

I also finished the stitching part of a wedding gift. Now, I must decide how to "finish" it. Not sure if we should frame it or make a pillow. I am leaning frame.

Next, I did a super quick stitch. I needed something FUN after finishing the wedding piece. Today, I stitched it onto the little bag.

I am currently working on Sammy Snowcone. He is going to be adorable!!!!
Have a super weekend everyone!!!!
Edited to add designers!!! The wedding sampler is called Spot of Love & it is by Mar, of Midnight Stitching!
The little snowman is by Sam Sarah designs.
The ornament is Christmas Joy by Angel Stitchin, out of the JCS 06 ornament issue

a few more pictures

I could only add 5 photos to the other post, so here are the rest that I took tonight!!!

More Christmas Decorating

I just told a friend that I had finished all of my decorating for Christmas. I told her I should post pictures on my blog, so I decided to go take the pictures & do just that!!!! I posted our tree & my outdoor snowmen a while back. And while I think of it, someone asked about the snowmen! Yes, we made them. My dad has the pattern, so he helped us. My husband did the cutting out & I did the painting. He put them all together! I love my snow guys!!!

I hope you enjoy some of my decorating. Merry Christmas!!! More pix in next post!!!

Mail art made it!

I have received word that my mail art made it to it's destination, so I can post pictures now. I think the gal that got it was happy with it. And that makes me very happy!! I always worry that I don't do good enough when I do exchanges!!

I am still working on a wedding gift. I haven't had a lot of stitching time the past couple weeks.

Stitching update & frustration

My mail art for one of my groups went out in the mail yesterday. I wish I could show pictures, but the receiver MAY read my blog, so I can't post pictures yet. After I hear that she receives it, I will post pictures!

The project I did before the mailart was for an angel project, so I can't show that one either!!! Gosh!

The one I am working on now is a wedding gift, so I won't be able to show it either. Oh well!!!
Now, the frustration side of this post. My email has been a mess off & on for over 6 months, probably longer, as fast as time goes.

I AM CERTAIN now thou. On Monday, I received a message from a designer. It was sent to many people. She was asking for model stitchers. I replied back within 5 minutes of it coming into my inbox. (I have learned to save messages I sent!!!!!) I had not heard back from her, so last night, just before bed, I emailed her again & asked if she got my reply. NOPE! And she had already "assigned" all of the models. UGH!!!!!

So...all that said, if you don't hear back from me, it is probably because I don't get your mail or you don't get mine. I usually reply to messages within 24 hours.

I am attaching a picture of my adorable snowmen that we have on our front porch. I probably posted it last year, but I know there are new readers!!! Also, I attached a picture of our tree. I don't have the nativity under it in this picture, but it is there now!
Have a great week everyone!!!!

Mail art received!

Well, last time I did a mailart, it took forever for mine to get here! This time, I haven't even started the one I am to do & the one to me is here already!!!! Least you think I am way behind, we have until the beginning of January, so I still have lots of time!

I got mine from Debra & it is great! She did a spring theme for me. She knows I love spring!!!
On the front, she stitched a cute little bunny & the words Happy Spring. On the back, she stitched 3 little tulips. She used a pretty pink fabric for the inside. She included a skein of purple silk floss in the envelope.

THANKS DEBRA for making today's mail bright!!!!!

Friday finish!

Good morning!!!!!
I have a second finish for the week!! Now, if the other 3 would go fast! Ha!!! They are all much larger projects! I do have to work on a few small things in between thou! I have an angel project piece to do & a mail art piece to do. I have ideas for both, but haven't started them yet! I am starting on one of them today.

I finished my "Friends come in all flavors" last night. It turned out pretty cute I think. Not sure what I am doing with it yet!!! HA!!
Also this week, I got a wonderful surprise in the mail. I have been corresponding with a gal in Russia. We have a mutual friend. Anyway, she sent me a small piece that she stitched. I am thinking it will be made into a bookmark for my Bible, since stitching & our Bibles are one of our common interests!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Mystery Blocks revealed

In one of the groups I am in, we did mystery blocks as part of a contest in Oct. I didn't know what to do for mine. One of my friends designed this block for me. I have NEVER stitched on linen, but I had this small piece in my stash & decided it was perfect for the block. It really was not hard at all to use. Now, if I just knew what it was! HA!!! I love how my block turned out. I wonder how many people knew it was mine!!!!

woohoo, a fall finish!!!

Yippee!!!!! I finished one of the 5 projects I have been working on! Other than very small pieces that I am committed to doing, I am concentrating on these 5 projects. I am not starting new ones until they are more complete. Three of the 4 left are large, so I will give myself some breaks, but I really, really want them finished! I want to get back to stitching the way I used to stitch. I can do it!!!!

This piece is Fall Y'all by Lizzie Kate. I used the suggested flosses, except for one of the greens. My fabric is Autumn Splendor by Sassy's. I love how it looks together!!! I made it into a serving tray, that will be decoration only!

Next up....Friends come in all Flavors!!!!

Mail Art Received!!!

Yippee!!!!!!!!
In today's mail, I received my mail art!!!!! This exchange was from several monthes ago. The mail date on them was Aug. 15th. I had pretty much given up hope of receiving it. The gal was even going to do a new one for me. I don't know yet if this is the original or a replacement, but my guess is the original.

Anyway, what a great thing to find in the mail on a very dreary Monday afternoon.
They are calling for that nasty 4 letter word tonight, so it is very yucky looking outside. This was a day brightener!

Thanks to Liana for making my day!!!

A finish & some WIP pix

Hello everyone!!!
I just finished my November ornament. It is Christmas is costing me an arm & a leg by Raise the Roof Designs. I used Enchanted Fabrics "champagne cocktail" fabric. I love how it turned out.

I am also showing you updates on my Christmas Village by Victoria Sampler & Fall Y'all by Lizzie Kate. I can see a lot of progress on both of them.

I spent the day yesterday (Sat.) helping my mom at a craft show. My dad double booked himself, so mom & I did the show here in town & he & my brother did the other one. We had a good day, despite slow sales. So many people oooohhhhdddd & aaaahhhhdddd over dad's bowls!

Today, I made a couple corn bags like I saw yesterday. I like them so much better than my "other style" corn bags. I have one on my lap right now & it feels wonderful!!!
Thanks to those of you who read my blog & comment. I appreciate it much!!!

Spyro update!

well, I have tried working on a rotation. I don't know if I will keep up with it or not. I like to have finishes & at this rate, it will be a long time before I have a finish!!!

I can tell I did a lot on my Christmas Village (someone asked about it---it is by Victoria Sampler, it came out last year about this time). I don't have an updated picture of it, but maybe after I work on it later this week.

I spent some time on Spyro & that is the one I will show today. Even my guys could tell I have worked on it. It is so time consuming, but will be a wonderful piece when it is done & will be a great reminder of our dear friend, after he is gone.

I am really having trouble sticking with these pieces, because I want to work on new stuff & autumn stuff. But, I MUST finish these. I have never had so many projects going at once!!!!!!
thanks to all who look & comment. I do appreciate so much hearing that people are actually reading what I type.

Toni, I would LOVE to hear from you.......I don't have your email address!!! Drop me a line!

Autumn Finish

I decided to take a break from the rotation that I am trying. I pulled out Acorns by Little House Needleworks on Friday. I started it, then had NO time to stitch on Sat. But.... I just finished it! I love how it turned out. I used the called for flosses, except for the grey. I had to sub it out, as I didn't have the one called for. I love the one I used. (Carries elephant grey) My fabric is Celedon from Enchanted Fabrics. In some lights, it looks grey, in some it looks green & some a khaki color!!!

I love how it turned out & it will be a pinkeep ornament when I get the proper supplies!

The rotation I am working on is:
Spyro

Christmas Village

Gameboard

Friends come in all Flavors

Fall Y'All.

Have a great week, everyone!!!

Lizzie Kate Flip It Bits finished

I set a goal to finish my flip it bits yesterday & I did it!!!!! I was done about 9 last night!!! Now, I need to decide if I want my husband to make a frame for it, or if I want to make it into a wall hanging. I am not sure yet!!!

I now have 5 projects in the works. My goal is to get them done & get back to working on one or two at a time!

I am humbled/honored!!!

Barb of Plum Pudding Needleart has put two of my stitched pieces in her newsletter this month!!! I showed them to her because I did them with different flosses than she used in the patterns. She loved them & asked if she could put them in her newsletter. Of course I said sure!!!
You can see her newsletter here:

I love the simplicity of her designs. They fit "me" so well!

On the stitching front this week, I finished a small autumn piece Friday morning. I had to take a break from my big projects, so I took this one with me Thurs. when I went to babysit. It is Harvest Moon by San Man. I did it on Sassy's honey starlite aida. I love how it turned out.

I brought SPYRO back out of the box. He is going to be worked into a rotation. A friend does a 3 day rotation with her projects & I am going to try it. I have 5 or 6 projects going, so we shall see if this works. The one day rotation DID NOT work!!!

I am hoping to finish my LK flip it bits tomorrow. That will take one out of the rotation!!!
Hope everyone has a great week!!!

great finishing week!

I got quite a bit of stitching done this week. I took my LK flip it bits along last weekend when we went away. I had finished Sept. on Thurs. & decided since it was almost Oct., I would just do it. So, I stitched it in the car & at the air show. I finished it Monday morning. I then did my ornament, since it is a SAL in two of my groups. I then went back to my Quaker piece that I started a while back. I finished it this afternoon. I am rewarding myself tonight! I am starting a new project!!!! I still have a few WIP to do, but I want to start my LK Fall Y'all scarecrow!!!!

Maybe I will be able to sneak in a few small autumn pieces as well. We shall see!!!
